Building inspection for moisture detection

Drizair conducts building inspections for moisture detection with an array of specialised tools and instruments that can locate and track moisture, obtain moisture levels of structural materials, measure environmental conditions such as relative humidity, temperature, grains of moisture, dew point, and determine levels of bacteria and mould.

Thermal imaging (infrared) technology is used as an initial detection tool for potential and suspect abnormal moisture within materials that is not always obvious to the naked eye. This technology is used in conjunction with specific moisture detection instruments.

The facts, findings and recommendations for that building envelope are presented in a meaningful and useful report format for the client.

Without proper inspection, signs of water damage are not always visibly obvious and can go undetected for a period of time, until signs such as mould, mal odour and degradation of materials arise. Mould has the potential to lead to health concerns and issues for the building occupants, along with an escalation in material replacement costs.

As a minimum requirement, following any water damage incident a thorough moisture inspection with the correct instrumentation should be conducted.

Building and structural drying

Contents drying

Drizair provides dehumidification for on-site contents drying and humidity control for quick recovery turnaround. Carpets are dried in-situ, along with on-site drying of salvageable water-damaged contents including furniture, electrical goods, documents and files, books and stock.

On substantial claims, Drizair works alongside other restoration companies who perform the remediation, cleaning and salvaging, and engage Drizair's expertise in the drying phase of the project.

Support services for mould remediation

Drizair can bring its expertise in providing the appropriate drying technology for controlling the environmental conditions to enable restoration companies to continue to provide their efforts with mould remediation, cleaning and decontamination processes required on mould recovery situations.

Mould needs moisture to thrive and requires moist conditions. While building materials hold abnormal moisture and humidity levels are high within the building envelope, mould will thrive. To halt mould amplification, Drizair engages its desiccant dehumidification technology with hepa filtration to quickly bring conditions to levels where mould will not thrive.

Surface preparation and coating environment

Drizair provides solutions for temporary and independent control of humidity and temperature. Any surface after it is blasted and prepared for any coating is subjected to environmental factors. Presence of high humidity during blasting, cleaning and coating cycles leads to flash rust and condensation resulting in coating failures like blistering and delamination.

Drizair prevents rust bloom from forming between the blasting and coating. Our team works in close co-ordination with the blasting and coating contractor to create the right ambient conditions.

Real-time biological testing

Drizair uses real-time biological testing for mould and bacteria. This is achieved through the collection of surface sampling and obtaining measurement of biological contaminants within minutes.

Typically, biological (bacteria and mould) surface sampling and the analysis may require days to weeks to obtain results, which can cost thousands of dollars, and ultimately can cause expensive project delays in completion.

This real-time biological testing method allows for rapid results while attempting to facilitate immediate corrective action, and allows for measurement indication of the effectiveness of the decontamination and cleaning processes involved in restoration and recovery works.

This cost-effective method of testing for bacteria and mould is an invaluable step to include in the recovery and rebuilding guidelines issued for those contractors involved in recovery programs following flood events.
